Traveling Mamas on the Nielsen Power Moms List

The Nielsen Power Moms list came out recently, showcasing the 50 top “mom bloggers” in terms of influence on the internet. In describing the list of influential sites, Nielsen Online research director Jessica Hogue said “moms seek the wisdom of their online counterparts as trusted advisors.” Well, imagine our delight (and surprise) to find Traveling Mamas on this Power Moms 50 list! We’re so proud to be recognized on the same list as our friends Travel Savvy Mom and Twitter Moms, not to mention power players like Dooce, BlogHer, and the NY Times parenting blog.

This Nielsen Online research of influential bloggers - headed by the same group that researches TV-viewing habits - ranked the Traveling Mamas as being a top “Mamaste.” This category reflects those who “stretch beyond their normal spheres to explore going green, travel, and spirituality.” Yay! The only downer in this unexpected recognition is that so many of our friends and equals aren’t on the list. Type A Mom, for example, is a hugely influential site, and I’d be shocked if owner Kelby doesn’t find herself on the Power Moms list next year. In fact, I’d bet on it.
