I have decided to leave the Entrecard community and have disabled Entrecard widget advertising on my blog. Pending adverts will be honoured and as soon as there are no more in the queue, I will remove the widget and close my account.
I have found some truly great blogs and made some excellent friends during my time with Entrecard and have enjoyed interacting with you all.
My number one reason for leaving is the time it takes to drop 300 cards a day, in my case about an hour and a half from bookmarked folders of 30 x 10 sites.
I would like to thank all of my regular droppers and will miss dropping on you, but feel my time would be better utilised elsewhere.
Since I’ve been using EntreCard I have become concerned about the bounce rate. You want visitors that will actively part take in your blog, not visit and leave a few seconds later, and the time constraints of dropping 300 cards a day ensures that the vast majority of your Entrecard visitors will drop and run. Since I have made this decision I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders as I am no longer a slave to Entrecard.
I am going to get traffic the old fashioned way. By spending more time on social networking sites visiting more blogs that truly interest me, spending more time, and commenting on them when I feel so inclined.
I have nine adverts left to run on my blog before I close my Entrecard account and will be donating the balance of my EC credits to anyone who leaves a comment on this post. The winner will be picked at random by my wife!

For the last 62 years the people of Norway have kindly donated a Christmas tree to the British people in recognition for their help and support during WW2. The tree has always stood in pride of place in Trafalgar Square and for most Londoners the lighting of the tree usually around the 4th December heralds the Christmas countdown.
The tree provides a backdrop to the many free Carol Services that both tourists and Londoners can enjoy in the traditional run up to Christmas. Many of these services raise money for worthwile causes and are well worth attending if you are in the area.
If you want to experience traditional festive cheer in the heart of London then this is a spectacle that should be top of your agenda.
Do you plan on attending any events over the Christmas Holidays, or do you prefer the comfort of your own home at Christmas time?

northern lights 2

One of my biggest and as yet unfulfilled ambitions would be a trip to the Arctic to see the Northern Lights. These spectacular awe-inspiring displays can often be seen during the winter months in the Northern Hemisphere.
Charged particles from the Suns magnetic field are thrown out into space and some of them are caught by the Earth’s magnetic field on their journey outwards. Sucked towards the Earth’s magnetic poles they collide with gases in our atmosphere, and the energy produced causes the fabulous light displays that we call the Northern Lights.
I sincerely hope that one day I can get to fulfil this lingering ambition of mine, as I can imagine it to be a life changing and almost religious kind of experience.
Have you been fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights, and if not is it one of your ambitions to do so?

houseblinger.com - The site for houseblingers and admirers of their work

Its amazing the lengths that some folks will go to at Christmas to decorate their houses. Some do it for fun, or for the Kids, while others do it for charitable causes and raise money from their displays. Whilst doing a bit of research for this post, I found a great site for lovers of overdecorating. I quote “Houseblinger is a free showcase for those amazing people who decorate (well, overdecorate) the exteriors of their houses at Christmas with lights.” If you want to showcase your beautifully decorated house to the world then you can submit it to this site for free! Or you can just browse the pictures that others have already submitted and vote on your favourites. The site has separate United Kingdom and and United States pages for lovers of Housebling.

The two pictures below are from the site and if you would like to visit then click on the banner above this post.

The display in the video below comes from Perth,Western Australia and contains some 40,000 LEDs, more than 5kms of cabling and 176 channels of light synchronised to music, all sponsored by Messages On Hold.com.au. Last year they raised $12,000 Australian Dollars for their local childrens hospital and are hoping to raise a lot more this year.

This amazing video from Pittsburgh USA shows 210,000 Christmas lights all animated to music. Visit Steel City Christmas.com for more displays.

Last month a spectacular opening ceremony, featuring some of the world’s top performers heralded the opening of the lavish Atlantis Palm hotel and resort in Dubai.

Costing $1.5 billion to build, the Atlantis is located in the centre of the Palm Jumeirah Crescent in Dubai.

The hotel boasts a total of 1,536 rooms and suites, and the exterior design features two hotel towers linked together by an impressive arch.

The resort is theme based on the lost city of Atlantis and includes an artificial marine habitat containing over 65,000 marine creatures. Other attractions are a Dolphin Encounter programme, water slides and an Atlantis-themed archaeological experience called “The Dig”.

This type of resort, spectacular though it is does not hold a lot of appeal to me, as I prefer quieter more natural surroundings. I am also concerned about the possible environmental impact that the building of these complexes may create.

Does this type of complex appeal to you, or is it too “Over the Top” What do you think?

Air Asia

Award winning budget carrier Air Asia recently announced astounding one way ticket deals to Australia from the UK costing only £199.00.

These staggeringly low prices knock 75% off the current standard fares available for this destination.
Air Asia currently fly from London Stanstead and from next March a one way ticket to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia will be on sale for £99.00. A connecting flight to Perth Western Australia will cost £100.00.

Critics are already panning these prices, claiming that they will be unsustainable for any length of time.
I would say “Snap them up while you can,” even if it does take a week to get over the stiffness from your economy flight, because at these rates you can’t go wrong!
